Barbara Norman, CFP® / Founder

I started my career in 1986, working for a large insurance and wealth management firm. I learned a lot during my time with them. Mostly, I learned that they were more concerned with how much money I made for them, and not for my clients. Had I stayed with them another 16.5 months, they would have doubled my pension. I couldn’t do it – not one more day.

In 2010 I made the decision to leave the insurance industry and focus only on investment and financial planning. I wanted to be in an environment where I have the freedom to design portfolios with my clients’ best interest at heart. I’ve never looked back. I love working with divorced and widowed women. They have unique financial planning, tax, asset protection, and social security issues. I don’t believe this kind of planning should be in the hands of a generalist. It’s essential that they get the planning they need and deserve. I also want them to find their happiness, and money is one of the chief drivers.

Education is important for me. I am: A graduate of UCSD, a Certified Financial Planner™,
Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™, Chartered Financial Consultant™, the host of The Happiest Chapter,™ podcast, and author of the Amazon bestseller, “How to Be Happily Divorced.” I frequently volunteer teach for educational and charity organizations.

When I am not in the office, I’m in the garden, on a hiking trail, rowing, or traveling with friends. My favorite activity is playing with my grand-daughters and kids.
