What Your Vacation Can Teach You About Investing

What Your Vacation Can Teach You About Investing

Think back to a favorite vacation from the past 10 years.

  • Where did you go and what did you do?
  • What did you eat?  (I hope you said “yes” to everything!)
  • What were the sensations and the feelings?
  • What made it magical?

Was it the best possible vacation you could’ve taken?

Probably not.

There are countless places you could’ve gone. Thousands of different places to stay, eat, explore. Maybe some other combination could have been even better.

But that didn’t matter.

You loved your trip!  You made memories. You came home with stories. You deepened your relationships with people.  You have a better understanding of the world around you.  It doesn’t matter that something “better” existed, because you enjoyed the one you chose.

The same is true with investing.

You set your intentions, made thoughtful choices, and took that first step. Could something else have worked out better? Sure. Did you miss the one that skyrocketed? Probably.

But looking back and second-guessing only leads to doubt—and that’s when good plans start to unravel.

What really matters is this:

  • Does your plan support a happy life —both now and later?
  • Can you ride out the bumps without losing sleep or second-guessing yourself?
  • Bonus: Does it give you the freedom to live well, share generously, and feel steady in your choices?

If so, you’re exactly where you need to be.

What matters most is having something that feels like it was made for you—steady, thoughtful, and supporting a life that brings you joy.

Trust the plan that was made for you. Let it work. … and then look for your next adventure!
