It’s Super Bowl Sunday! Time to whip up the guacamole and the superstitions. There is a nonscientific Super Bowl predictor that says if the AFC wins, the stock market will decline and if the NFC wins, the markets will have a bull run in the upcoming year. Does that mean we all need to root for the Philadelphia Eagles?
I guess I could look back over the years and whip up some statistics about how this may be true or false. Nah! I’m guessing you aren’t that into it today and I don’t feel like doing the math.
We could have some fun with a few other Freakonomic (1) indicators about how the sale of alcohol, make-up, and spending on dogs increases in a down market. Or how short skirts are an indicator of an up-market and long skirts mean the market will go down.
I don’t see many women wearing skirts anymore. And when I do, I see that they are short, long, and midi.
The markets will do what the markets will do. So go root for whatever team makes your heart happy. And if football is not your thing, then I hope you take a walk on the beach or do something that brings you joy.
Because, at the end of the day, I hope we are all cheering for joy!
Whatever you do, I hope your day is delightful!
